Meet the founder

Thabo Malo is the Founder and Managing Director of Travel Lab SA, bringing over 15 years of tourism industry expertise spanning destination marketing, product development, and strategic partnerships.

 

Before launching Travel Lab SA, he held key roles at South African Tourism—working on major events like Cape Town International Jazz Festival, Standard Bank Joy of Jazz, Meetings Africa and Africa’s Travel Indaba — and served as Product and Contracting Manager at Thompsons Holidays.

 

His perspective is shaped by extensive global travel and a strong academic foundation, holding a B.Tech Degree in Tourism Management and a Postgraduate Diploma in Brand Building. Thabo combines strategic destination knowledge with a deeply personal approach to curation.

 

A lifelong sports enthusiast and passionate tennis player, Thabo believes the most memorable journeys are built around the traveler’s passions—whether attending a Grand Slam, discovering fine dining, or exploring a new culture. This philosophy defines Travel Lab SA: a commitment to understanding where to go, who to trust, and what is genuinely worth experiencing.
